Preservence of History Through Modern Mediums.
All around the modern world schools have one thing in common; they teach history. Everyday millions of people open books and read about events that nowadays only exist as a single piece of paper, as reminders of a world that once was. On all places of planet earth, people are daily reminded of how things once were; how governments lured and worked. What all these stories lack however, is the reminder that there were very real people living through that same history. That there were flesh, sweat, tears and blood, just like in you and me, slowly moving through the days we now read as mere statistics. These all have stories, stories that are leaves on a dying tree, planted in a garden long since sealed never to be opened again.
In the new millennia a new world has opened before our eyes. In the time it takes one heart to take one single beat a person from Australia can send a letter to a friend in Russia. In the time it takes an airplane to fly from London to New York millions of people have traded experiences about their everyday life. In the time it would take a 1930ies boat to travel from India to England all the world have exchanged more information than there was information in all of the newspapers during the whole 20th centaury.
All these wonders are thankful to one single medium: The Internet.
I am a collage student from Sweden, coming from a family with a history of interest in the same thing; history. I have a dream, a vision that the internet will be able to salvage, gather and tell us from this new generation about soon forever lost stories. My vision is not to further gather information about what a single government did, what a general once said neither on how many bombs nor how peace was kept.
What I want to gather is stories of blood, sweat and tears.
I want to show the human side of conflict, of history and of life.
I want the new world to not only see the world that was before us, but live in the world that was before us.
As part of the global community I ask you know: Leave your part in history so that it is never forgotten!
The Idea
My vision is a book; a place and a publishing site were all stories are published. We want to gather personal experiences from life and history and then spread them with the global population. A library not only of history, but of human history.
Do you know someone, a grandfather; perhaps a mother or a father, that has been through extraordinary things? Have you made research about deceased relatives and want their story published? The main focus is to gather experiences from the soon-to-be lost first accounts of the Second World War, but also from other major conflicts in modern history, and then gather them in one place. Through the wonders of the internet the stories will become forever published, copied and told over and over again.
If you are feeling up to the task please contact us at:

Please mark the letter with the conflict/event told about. Also, you might want to include some other things. Here are some help along the way, even if nothing else than a story is mandatory:
* Pictures, photographs and scans of documents.
* Rank, army, profession, theatre.
* Name and background.
* Your connection to the person in question (if not yourself).
* The story itself.
* Links to records, facts, sources.
Also, help, critique and questions are welcomed at the same address.

The internet reveals its real beauty when it shows its ability to connect people. We are more than a few that are dedicated to this project but we are no capable of reaching the world by ourselves. Help and do an effort to spread the word! By blogging, journaling, messaging and discussing the blog the world can be allowed to listen to the incredible stories hidden in the masses of man. Support the history by spreading this blog through to your friends. At a certain stage, we will evolve the blog into a chain reaction that will secure everyone’s place in history.
